Do you have a favorite memory or game while playing for Township?
It was probably my most recent meet – the individual state meet for gymnastics, because it was one of my top accomplishments during my gymnastics career.
Who was your biggest inspiration to start playing your sport?
I really liked Shawn Johnson, because she was very versatile in gymnastics; she wasn’t one of the very rhythmic or more beautiful gymnasts, but she was very powerful, and I think that kind of resonates with me.
Do you have a favorite hobby outside of your sport?
I just like hanging out with friends. I mean, sports really take up a lot of my time.
What are you most looking forward to as a college athlete?
I’m looking forward to joining a really competitive and more bonded team, I’m excited for road meets, and a lot of team bonding activities.
Why did you feel that Georgian Court was the best fit for you as a student-athlete?
They had a lot of pros, their acro-tumbling team has a new coach, which is great. They have a really great nursing program that I’m hoping to be accepted into, and it’s really close to home, so it’s all lots of pros.
What advice do you have for those looking to play college sports/get recruited?
It takes time; it’s definitely a tedious process. If it doesn’t come to you right away, that doesn’t mean it’s not going to come to you at all. Just wait for your turn, be patient, and keep grinding!
What was your biggest challenge during your sports career?
Probably side effects from the different diseases I have. I had a lot of joint pain that was associated with my ulcerative colitis, but I worked with different doctors and started different medicines to help me push through it.
What was the hardest part about balancing school and athletics?
Probably finding the time between school, practice, and outside-of-school practice to get done with my homework and studying. It’s very beneficial as a student-athlete to have Study Hall to make sure you get your homework done. And making sure that everything is complete on time, keeping up with your grades, as well as keeping up with your athletics.
Do you have a favorite memory or game while playing for Township?
Our Coaches’ Cup Final. The championship game. We won it; it was the best game I ever played.
Who was your biggest inspiration to start playing your sport?
Probably Sami Bruno.
Do you have a favorite hobby outside of your sport?
I really like lifting.
What are you most looking forward to as a college athlete?
Getting to play with all of my friends, and making new friends.
Why did you feel that Rowan was the best fit for you as a student-athlete?
I really love the school. Besides the sport, I really like the school too. So, it was a good match.
What advice do you have for those looking to play college sports/get recruited?
Work hard. Work really, really hard!
What was your biggest challenge during your sports career?
Probably learning how to play – that was the really hard part. Learning how to throw and catch was really difficult.
What was the hardest part about balancing school and athletics?
Trying to keep my grades up while still working hard outside of practice.
Do you have a favorite memory or game while playing for Township?
My favorite game was this past year against Freehold Borough. I threw a complete game, and it was a chippy matchup, so I was really happy I performed well.
Who was your biggest inspiration to start playing your sport?
Honestly, my uncle and my dad. They were big Mets fans, so I started watching baseball with them, and naturally I wanted to play. From there, I just kept going.
Do you have a favorite hobby outside of your sport?
I really like golfing—that’s probably my favorite. I also enjoy going to the gym. Those are definitely my top two hobbies.
What are you most looking forward to as a college athlete?
I’m really just looking forward to playing. That’s been my dream—not specifically Seton Hall at first, but just to play college sports in general and hopefully earn a chance to play professionally one day.
Why did you feel Seton Hall was the best fit for you as a student-athlete?
I had a lot of options, but I chose Seton Hall because I loved it when I visited for a prospect camp in March. I liked the campus, the Catholic feel, the field, and the coaching staff. Everything just felt right.
What advice do you have for those looking to play their sport in college?
Be consistent. You really have to love the sport and work at it every day. You can’t just expect to be good—you have to fall in love with the process, stay consistent, do the right things, and try to be a good leader.
What was your biggest challenge during your sports career?
When I was younger, I hurt my arm, and I honestly didn’t think I would pitch again. But I overcame it, and now I’m committed to Seton Hall to pitch.
Do you have a favorite memory while running for Township?
My favorite memory is when we won Group 4 State Championships for the first time in school history, and then the next year we went back-to-back and won again. We also placed third in MoCo my freshman year, which was super exciting. Those moments were definitely my favorites.
Who or what was your biggest inspiration to play your sport?
My biggest inspiration would be my teammates and my coach. One of my former teammates, Emma, who runs at Georgetown now, was a huge influence. All my teammates from my freshman and sophomore years, who were seniors then, really made me fall in love with the sport. My coach, Briggs, has also played a big role—he pushes me to be my best, and I wouldn’t be the runner I am today without him and my teammates.
What are you most looking forward to at Fairfield?
I’m really looking forward to being part of the nursing program, which I’m grateful to be accepted into. I’m also excited to run with the team every day. They’re doing really well, and all the girls on the team are so nice. I can’t wait to be part of it.
Any advice for those looking to play their sport in college?
Don’t compare yourself to others—focus on your own journey because everyone’s path is unique. Be happy with what you’re doing and believe in yourself.
What was the biggest challenge you faced while running for Township?
My biggest challenge was definitely injuries. I faced a lot of them, and they put me in difficult situations where I had to decide whether to push through. I dealt with a lot of pain, but overcoming it made me the runner I am today.
