  • Not a Cell Phone in Sight

The phrase “Not a cell phone in sight, just living in the moment” caught on as one the more popular memes of 2018. • Astonished Pikachu Face

A low-quality image of Pikachu having an astonished, surprised look quickly became a meme this November. It’s meant to be a look of sarcastic astonishment, for when you know something will happen and think it won’t happen, but it happens anyway.

There was no real reason for this to become a meme, but it did. A video on YouTube of “surgery” being done on a grape went viral in November, and was all over Instagram and Twitter, with simply the caption “They did surgery on a grape.”
