Song of the Week: She Way Out by The 1975

If someone were to ask me what my top favorite bands were, I would list The 1975 without even blinking. They have a unique style that cannot be mimicked and a lead singer, Matty Healy that pushes the boundaries. I have seen them twice live and can easily say they play the best shows. I would give away my brother for an opportunity to see them again and feel no remorse.

The 1975 have been trending online since last year due to deactivating all their social media accounts after posting ominous comics about the band’s future stating, “Our projected/rendered identity needs to change not only visually but philosophically.” They made a comeback disregarding their old melancholic black and white visuals, with vibrant pinks and a new style of 80s pop.

is an old gem from their first album and is a perfect definition of the group. They typically sing about sadness, girls and drugs, but the negativity is masked by the upbeat sound of each song. The repetitiveness emphasizes the subject; “way out” means unusual therefore the girl is eccentric and different. Nevertheless, this song and album are iconic. Check out their most recent release, “I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it” (yes that is really the title of the album).
