The playoffs are here! The MLB playoffs are about to kickoff and the race is tight. As of September 28 2015, the Toronto Blue Jays have control of the American League East followed by the New York Yankees. The Kansas City Royals Clinched the American League Central without much worry as the next closest team in that division is 10 games behind. In the American League West the battle heats up between the Texas Rangers who currently are 2.5 games above the Houston Astros and 3 above the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Finally, the American League wildcard is headed by the 8669 Yankees, coming in second is a fight between the Astros, Angels and Twins.

In the National league, the New York Mets clinched the NL East with 89 wins currently. The West is led by the infamous Dodgers who are 6 games up on the Giants. The NL central is filled with playoff entrants such as the Pirates and possibly the best team in baseball the St. Louis Cardinals. Junior Hailey Ruderman had added her own opinion about this topic, “I’m really excited for the World Series this year. I’m especially excited for the fact that the Mets are in the playoffs this year and that they won their division considering this is the first time this has happened in nine years.” The Chicago Cubs who found new management this year in Joe Maddon, have taken the top wildcard position.

The wildcard game is one game and the winner will move onto face the team with the best winning percentage and the team that won their division. So if the season ended today, the NY Yankees would play the Houston Astros in the AL wild card, the winner would go on to face the Toronto Blue Jays. In the NL the Cubs would play the Pirates and the winner would face the 9858 Cardinals.

Some things to note in the 2015 MLB Playoffs are the two teams who finished with losing records last year, Mets and Astros, find themselves closing in on the Playoffs. In addition, the Toronto Blue Jays who made some very important trades at the trade deadline, acquiring David Price and Troy Tulowitzki, have broken their 20 plus year playoff drought.
