First of all, congrats!

– Thank you!

What are you most looking forward to as a college athlete?

– Obviously competing, but also forming new relationships and [meeting] new teammates. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Why did you think that Quinnipiac was the best fit for you?

– Well I got into their six-year PA program, which is exactly what I want to do. And, I also thought that the school was gorgeous when I went to look at it. I actually got to do an overnight there and the team was really nice and I liked the environment.

What do you think the biggest challenge will be to adapt to?

– I think just like you’re no longer home, so you have to get used to this new place. And [you have to] get used to college and studying and getting on schedule. And, obviously, working hard on the team will also be a little challenging, but that’s the whole point. That’s what makes it fun.

So you’re confident you can adjust?

– Yes. I’m excited. I’m really excited.

What advice do you have for those who are looking to play college sports?

– I would say to remember why you’re doing the sport and keep putting in work. You might have people who tell you no, but there’s always going to be someone to tell you yes. It’s important that you’re doing it not for college, but because you’re passionate about the sport and because you really like it.

So you mentioned passion, what makes you passionate about track?

– I like how it’s a sport where you get out of it what you put into it. And, I think that the girls on the team are amazing and they’re all my best friends. The feeling you get when you’re racing and when you succeed after putting in so much work, it’s almost really satisfying in a way.

You’ve had a lot of success at Township, how has that felt?

– Very exciting. It’s one of my favorite parts about Township for sure. And, getting to share it with the other girls on the team, is very exciting.

What was the most challenging part of the recruiting process? Or, was it pretty smooth?

– For the most part, it was pretty smooth. The pandemic was a little hard because you weren’t competing and for track it’s mostly times, so that was a little bit hard. But, other than that, I feel like it went relatively smoothly. You reach out to a bunch of schools and you kind of just narrow them down.

Your team was on TV the other day, right? How was that?

– Our race was not on TV but the other races were because when we were racing the high schools race, that’s when they interview the pros. But, it was still such an amazing experience. You got to watch these pros race and meet so many people. It was such a fun atmosphere to race in and everything was very exciting.

Do you have a favorite hobby outside of track?

– I like painting. I like the beach and I like surfing. Probably those.

Any pre-race rituals or superstitions.

– For pre-meet, you have to make sure that you eat right. And then I stretch and roll out and do all that stuff every time before the race.

What is the one thing you’re most excited for this fall in college?

– The one thing I’m excited for is probably change. Getting to meet new people and learn new things and be on a new team and push my limits.

Congrats, again!

– Thank you so much!
