1.Put Distractions Away

When trying to accomplish tasks, having distractions around makes it hard to get work done. By putting away unnecessary electronic devices, items that grab someone’s attention easily, and separating yourself from others who can be distracting can all help increase productivity. Removing the options to stall oneself from doing work is a simple and effective way to get work done.

2.Declutter Your Workspace

When papers, pencils, pens and other stationery items are cluttering up one’s workspace, it is hard to stay focused on the task at hand. By organizing the workspace a person has a more focused mindset on the work they are doing. Having a neat and tidy workspace can lead to accomplishing more effective work, being more productive and getting the tasks done in a more timely manner. Additionally, having to constantly go through messy papers and unorganized binders to find materials needed is a distraction and simply unnecessary when trying to finish work. By decluttering a person’s workspace, all of this wasted time can be used towards finishing what needs to be done.

3.Make To Do Lists

When a lot of work needs to be done, it can be very easy to forget about other tasks that should be completed. A very effective and easy way to organize someone’s assignments is to create lists. Writing assignments down and physically seeing what needs to be finished is a very helpful tool to use. These to do lists do not only have to be used for jobs or school work, but also can be used for many other work related tasks such as chores around the house.

4.Write Down Thoughts & Ideas

When someone has to complete a lot of assignments and has multiple responsibilities in life, it is easy for that person to feel overwhelmed. A sufficient way to release the stress and anxiousness being built up is to write down thoughts and ideas. Writing down a thought that can be used later, something that is remembered or even a question can be a very helpful action to do. Having the ability to write down what is going on in someone’s mind can help a person focus, release stress and feel less overwhelmed about what needs to be completed.

5.Use a Planner

Using a planner is a beneficial tool that can be used to organize your thoughts, ideas, questions and life in general. Writing down when a homework assignment is due, test date, family event or social gathering can aid a person to be more organized. Having this ability to be organized can make it easier for someone to remember important dates, have easy access to crucial information and can make a person feel more calm about upcoming activities.

6.Set Reminders

Setting reminders to finish tasks, complete assignments and refresh your memory about due dates can be very beneficial when trying to stay organized. Reminders aid a person to stay more organized and prepare themselves for the upcoming work due. Having these reminders can also help someone stay focused on work that needs to be done, in order to meet deadlines.

7.Set Allotted Times To Get Work Done

Giving someone a time limit to complete tasks is an effective way to get work done faster. Having an extensive amount of time to finish a task can cause a person to continuously put the work aside, get distracted easier and gives someone a better chance of forgetting the task. Setting allotted times to accomplish work can help someone stay focused and become more productive in that time period. After the allotted time to complete a task is done, someone does not have to worry about completing these tasks later and can have more time to themselves later on in the day.

8.Do Not Multitask

When people multitask, the work accomplished tends to be not sufficiently completed and careless. Giving your attention to multiple activities at once can cause someone to be less productive, more thoughtless and more confused. If someone were to pay attention to one thing at a time, their work would be done more sufficiently with great care, causing the person to fully understand what they are doing. Not multitasking while doing work can not only increase the type of work produced, but also aids someone into being proud of the tasks they completed.

9.Complete Tasks that Take the Least Amount of Time

When working for hours on end it can be difficult to stay focused and have motivation to finish an assignment. Starting with the task that takes the least amount of time can prepare oneself for the long hours of work ahead. Building up a person’s attention span while working can be greatly beneficial for a person’s mental, physical and emotional states. Gradually increasing the amount of work as time goes on also helps a person to accomplish their work in a productive and convenient manner.

10.Check Off Completed Tasks

After assignments have been completed, checking off these tasks can greatly assist someone into completing more. Checking off work that is done can be a helpful way for a person to continue finishing tasks because the person is realizing they have less and less work to do. Additionally, after completing a lot of tasks, the ending sensation of doing this is very gratifying. Physically seeing the work checked off can also be a confidence booster for some, helping those understand that they are capable of completing the work they have.
