Ava’s All Time Favorite Classic Rock Hits!

Songs that should be added to your playlist.

Ava Spertos

Classic rock is by far my favorite genre of music!  It gives us insight on the most timeless, quintessential, finest moments in music history. In a world where technology was not at the epicenter of life, people relied on these iconic bands and artists to fuel their happiness. Please enjoy reading about some of my all time favorite classics! These, for sure, are ones to add to your playlist!

¨My Life” by Billy Joel

Billy Joel has yet again outdone himself in the album 52nd Street. He adds in a hint of jazz, differentiating from his previous albums. What I love most about Billy Joel is that he never fails to incorporate that essential touch of pop into his music. This separates himself into a league of his own, allowing for him to become a master of rock and roll. “My Life” promotes the beauty of independence, confidentiality, and strength.

“Tiny Dancer” by Elton John

Elton John…there aren’t enough words to describe a musician whom you call a mastermind! Elton is a highly respected, compassionate soul who loves his fans and is a dedicated performer. There are so many of Elton’s songs that top my list, but I find ¨Tiny Dancer¨ to be a consistent favorite. You cannot give credit to Elton without crediting Bernie Taupin, Elton’s songwriter. Elton and Bernie were an irrepressible duo that constantly exceeded society’s standards. To this day, ¨Tiny Dancer¨ ranks top of the list for Elton’s greatest hits of all time.

¨What is Life¨ by George Harrison

Most notably known for his role as a Beatle, George Harrison is an incredible musician who happens to thrive as a soloist. In my opinion, Harrison is extremely underrated. He takes credit for writing a majority of the music for The Beatles, and in return, his talent is evidently shown through his album, All Things Must Pass. The introduction of ¨What is Life¨ is truly captivating. It pulls the listener into a whirlwind of a composition that one would think is composed by group. I highly recommend diving deeper into Harrison’s music, as he is truly a hidden gem!

 “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac

Sung with a rather emotional set of lyrics, Stevie Nicks takes the listener through a “landslide” of emotions while performing this song. Fleetwood Mac brings a taste of bohemian vibes to the stage of rock. This song is beautifully written as Stevie Nicks recognizes the challenges of life, while connecting the lyrics to her surroundings. Personally, I feel as if Stevie’s addition to Fleetwood enhances the style of the group tremendously. For more Fleetwood favorites, I recommend listening to the album Rumours, which was the band’s first number one album!

“Here Comes The Sun’ by The Beatles

An all time favorite, highly ranked Beatle song, pretty much everyone knows of ¨Here Comes The Sun¨. I´m constantly amazed by how much positivity this song can bring, while repeating the same lyrics over and over again. If there is one song that never fails to put me in a good mood, it’s this song. If you know me at all, ¨Here Comes The Sun¨ happens to be my favorite saying. For a song to be 51 years old and still well known to this day, it says a lot about the masterminds behind this composure. The Beatles are commonly viewed as the most influential band of all time. The ¨fab four¨ are individually fiercely talented. Together, they were an unstoppable force, holding seven grammys and reaching nineteen number one albums. Collectively, The Beatles have sold the most albums in history, selling 183 million units! I find ¨Here Comes The Sun¨ to be a timeless treasure, radiating nothing but the most vivacious vibes.

I hope you enjoyed reading about some of my all time favorites! Classic rock is truly ageless beauty that should never be forgotten. Rock on!
