BotC: Freshmen Profile
It is now November which means the most anticipated event of the year is approaching: Battle of the Classes (BOTC). The students are looking forward to see the memorable performances of their teams and witness the outcome of each competition if they chose to attend. Each team has practiced the events and they are well prepared and focused for the competition. The grades are ready to represent their class and they hope to pull out a win.
For the Freshmen, it is their time to test the waters and experience what BOTC is really like. Even though the Freshman team is known to lose the competition, the team members hope to prove themselves in the end.
The Patriot Press was able to get some insight on the thoughts and personal opinions of the team, specifically, Herman Colbert, Payton Trabb, Giancarlo Pantano, Hunter Torre, and Emanuella Halkias.
Do you think your team is well-constructed? Why?
- Herman Colbert: Yes and no because during practices we get things done, but at the same time, not everyone attends practice.
- Payton Trabb: Yes, because we are very productive at practice, but not everyone comes.
- Giancarlo Pantano: I think we are very well constructed as we have incredible chemistry and we have the ability to work hard and well.
- Hunter Torre: Yes because we get along really well and have a positive mindset.
- Emanuella Halkias: Yes, I think our team is well-constructed because we work together and get things done efficiently.
What event are you looking forward to most?
- Herman Colbert: I’m looking forward to the dance because I want to see how the upperclassmen look compared to how we look.
- Payton Trabb: I am very excited for the dance because we are working hard on it.
- Giancarlo Pantano: Easily the dance because of how good I think it’s going to be. While I am scared of what people may think of us Freshmen, I am confident in our dance.
- Hunter Torre: The dance.
- Emanuella Halkias: I am looking forward to doing the dance because we have been working on it for a while and it is fun to do.
Do you know the people on the team well? If so, do you think that makes you a better team?
- Herman Colbert: Yes and yes. I think it makes us a better team because we have team chemistry and we can cooperate well together.
- Payton Trabb: Yes, we are all friends and get along very well.
- Giancarlo Pantano: To put it simply, our team knows each other very well. I think we even have the best chemistry for any Freshman team ever. This chemistry will also automatically improve us because our ability to work together is exquisite.
- Hunter Torre: Yes, I know all of them very well, we work much better together since we know each other.
- Emanuella Halkias: Yes, I know the people on the team well and I do believe it makes us a better team. Since we know each other well, we know each other’s strengths and weaknesses, which helps with the events.
What’s the best part about being on the Freshman BOTC team?
- Herman Colbert: The best part is you don’t have to worry about coming in last in the events because that is what people are expecting of you.
- Payton Trabb: The best part is showing how well we work together as a team.
- Giancarlo Pantano: The best thing for me personally is the fact that we are supposed to get last, but I think that we have an opportunity to get better than last place.
- Hunter Torre: I am able to be with my friends more often.
- Emanuella Halkias: The best part about being on the Freshman BOTC team is that it is very fun and it is always something to look forward to.
