Title: Resist Medium: Photography Size: 20.32 x 25.4 cm Statement of Intent: This art piece was inspired by the “take a knee” movement in the NFL and the social feelings this movement spurred. The belief that standing for the national anthem is an indicator of patriotism frustrated me and I was inspired by the phrase, “Forced patriotism is fascism.” The method of typography was inspired by artist Barbara Kruger, as well as the black and white photograph. To create this artwork, I took a picture of my own fist and edited the photograph in photoshop.
