Having gone through more than half of the year already, how has your year at FTHS been so far?

So far this year I have been happy. Personally, I find high school much easier than middle school because you have more freedom and the teachers are very helpful.

What was the hardest transition going from middle school to high school?

One thing that was difficult for me was the workload. There is a lot more work and less reminders to do the work, which causes me to forget about assignments all the time. Only when the teachers ask for the assignments on the due dates, I remember I had to do it.

When walking into Township on the first day, were you overwhelmed?

I was very overwhelmed on the first day of school. Not only were the hallways very confusing and I didn’t know the letters that the hallways are labeled with, but everyone was in a mad scramble to get to their classes. I think this is because they were used to the 2 minutes you had to get to your class in middle school, compared to the 5 minutes you have in township.

Do you feel that high school is a lot harder than middle school?

I do not think high school is more difficult than middle school. It may be that I like my teachers a lot more but I am definitely happier and find high school much easier.

Do you feel as though you have more freedom now than you did in middle school?

I feel like there is much more freedom in high school than their was in middle school. You get to be more independent and have a lot more responsibility than you had in Barkalow. The one thing about having more independence is that there are stricter punishments for your actions, such as detentions, central detentions, and suspensions.

What is your hardest class this year? Why?

My hardest class this year is definitely math. In high school, I’ve noticed that if you fall behind in math, it’s very very hard to catch back up. Sometimes I’d rather not be absent because I know that it is going to be much more challenging catching up to the whole class.

What is your favorite class this year? Why?

My favorite class of the year is definitely history. The class is interesting and you get to do a lot of projects in groups, which is really fun.

What have you gotten involved in so far? (Clubs, sports, etc)

I haven’t gotten involved in the school. I have gone to most of the sports games to show spirit though!

What classes are you looking forward to taking next year?

I am looking forward to business next year because I really like learning about useful things you can use later in life.

In your opinion, what do you think is the biggest difference between middle school and high school?

In my opinion, the biggest difference from middle school to high school is freedom. Middle school was strict and  treated us like baby’s. They acted as if high school was going to be much different and that it is a whole new experience. It really isn’t, it’s the same, if not better than middle school.
