Pug-a-palooza? More like pug-a-paloser! This year, from May 5th-7th was supposed to be the best weekend any pug-lover could imagine. Three whole days dedicated to solely pugs and raising money for rescue groups. A fun event to look at cute pugs that would make your heart fill with happiness and reward you for all the hard work you have done this year. Unfortunately, the promotion of this amazing event failed to inform those intending to go that you must be over 21 to enter.

Now although the venue of pugapalooza was at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, the location had been advertised as family friendly, so you can imagine my surprise when I got to the door and was turned away. Also, I am not the only FTHS student to be slightly outraged as my fellow peer who would like to remain anonymous inquired “Who advertised this? They should have clarified that you had to be over 21 to enter the main event.”

On the bright side, even though I could not be accepted into the main event, I did get to see some really adorable pugs while I waited in line. At least I know for next year to go the pug promenade on the boardwalk instead!

In all seriousness pug-a-palooza serves a great purpose. Click the following link if you would like to donate to Pug Squad which “provides financial assistance to pug rescues nationwide and also supports families who cannot afford to care for their senior and special needs pugs.”
