More Life: Drake’s New Project

A few days ago on Beats 1 Radio, Drake was talking about his next ideas for music, and he announced that he’s working on a new album called More Life. He says that the album will include songs from himself and various artists that are signed to the OVO Sound label. He also says that it will be released in December. While he was on Beats 1 Radio, he also played three songs from the album, two of which are available for listening.

The first song is called “Fake Love.” It has a more upbeat tone than other songs from him, especially compared to his last album, and he takes on more of a song vibe than a rap one for most of the song. One thing, however, that he keeps in this song is the meaning behind it. Many of Drake’s other songs, such as “The Ride” and “Keep the Family Close” explain dealing with fake friends and how it’s caused by his fame. It is undeniable that these songs sound very different, with one being loud and pure rap, another being slow and pure song, which leaves this one somewhere in the middle. It’s different than what he normally does, with some seeing it as pleasant while others would rather him rap to a beat about the same issue.

The second song he debuted is called “Sneakin’” and features 21 Savage, another artist that is signed under the OVO Sound label and will most likely have his own songs on the collaboration album. What “Fake Love” lacks in, “Sneakin’” makes up for, and vice versa. This song takes on an eerie tune, which is distinct from both his last album and “Fake Love.” Singing is completely vacant in this piece as Drake and 21 Savage rap to this eerie beat. This song focuses on a similar topic to “Fake Love,” but switches it up a little bit. Instead of just focusing on the people trying to use him, he explains the numerous reasons why they’d want to, like his various awards he’s won and the tremendous amount of money he’s made. 21 Savage’s verse is just describing his luxurious lifestyle entirely, in fact. In this way, it’s a stereotypical rap song. Drake goes on to mention the fake friends and manipulators once more, and says how he’ll get revenge by ruining their career. So, for the most part, “Sneakin’” involves the same topic as “Fake Love” while every other aspect of the song is the polar opposite of it.

Both songs are available for streaming on Apple Music and Spotify, and they’re available for purchase on iTunes. The other song Drake debuted, “Two Birds One Stone,” isn’t available on any mainstream service, and he also is putting a remix of “Wanna Know” by Meek Mill, on the album.
