Rompers, otherwise known as the onesies’ non-socially awkward, presentable, and fashion forward cousin, are another trend that is starting to catch some attention.

Rompers are a clothing article for women that are like a pair of pants and a t-shirt, but attached together. I know — it’s a revolutionary idea. Rompers come with many different styles, colors, patterns, materials, and accessory options. Rompers can have long or short bottom parts (the technical fashion term), although the shorter version seems to be what more people are wearing. From what I read online and heard from my aunt, rompers were also a trend back in the seventies.

The trend seems to have appeared last summer, but started to disappear before the fall came. I first made contact with them when I saw my cousin wearing one, then when my aunt saw that rompers reemerged she seemed elated then went out and bought about three pairs. Since the trend wasn’t in full blast, I wasn’t completely sure whether or not they would make a comeback for summer 2K15, but as you can tell from the girls in school, the romper reigns on.

From the fashion standpoint, I can understand it. They’re something you can dress up or down  and wear for night or day, and they have endless possibilities when it comes to wearing them. They seem to fit well and look like they can keep you cool enough to survive the brutal summer in New Jersey and survive the brutal temperature our school reaches during this time of the year. (Cough, give us air conditioning, cough.)

One question that seems to go through my mind the more I think about it is: how difficult is it when you need to go to the bathroom? I’m pretty sure that to do so you would need to take off the romper entirely. That seems like work that could be avoided. So I’m happy that I’m a boy and don’t have to worry about that.

A romper seems like one of those things that can be worn by any woman, which is always good. But rompers come in so many different styles and cuts and patterns that anyone is capable of expressing themselves because they can just get a romper that fits to them. (Now all I picture from that sentence is a Buzzfeed quiz whose title would be Which Romper Are You?)

If I were a girl, it seems like one of those things I would buy and not realize the effort which goes into wearing one. I mean I would still wear it, and probably wear it often, but then again I’m not a girl so who knows. Anyway, rompers seem to be growing in popularity and seem to be something we’ll be seeing a lot of this summer.
