Top 5 Holiday Movies

Christina Ross, Staff Writer

Every year when the holidays roll around I always am ecstatic to watch holiday movies, and holiday specials. My all time favorite Holiday movie is Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.. Although I am no longer a little kid I always get super excited to watch this movie and any holiday movie, with friends and family. So, if you are just at home bored looking for a holiday movei, or like me and love watching them no matter what here a few of my favorites.

#1: Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas: Throughout this movie the Grinch who lives at the top of the mountain on who town tries to destroy Christmas. Throughout his attempts he steals presents, and Christmas trees, and even the Christmas Ham. My favorite part is when the only item he leaves behind is an ornament which shows how greedy and a Grinch he really is. If you haven’t seen this movie yet I highly recommend you go see it.

#2: The Polar Express: A boy who is about 10 years old no longer believes in Santa Claus. When his parents put him to bed a few moments later he hears the whistle of The Polar  Express. Although he hesitates boarding the train he joins the rest of the kids on a magical journey. Throughout his journey he will go through numerous times where he still doesn’t believe but every child at some point in their childhood will have that moment where they no longer believe. For hero Boy he is one of the lucky ones who got the reassurance that there is magic in Christmas and that he should believe. This is another one of my favorites you should definitely check out the magic.

#3: Elf: When Buddy the Elf finds out that he is adopted the first thing he does is ask who is father is. When he finds out that Walter Hobbs who is on the Naughty List is his father he automatically goes on a mission to the magical land of New York City to get his father back on the nice list. Throughout many attempts to get his father to notice him he finally does but finds out just how Naughty his father really is.

#4: Home Alone: Kevin McAllister is not your average kid, when his family goes on vacation without him he is left to fend for himself through the holiday season and even Christmas. With every attempt that his family does to try and reunite for the Holidays he is left alone on Christmas day. He fights off burglars, and even gets the FBI involved! Kevin is not your average kid.

#5: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation: This is probably one of my favorite Christmas comedy’s to watch. If you want to laugh until you can’t anymore this is the holiday movie for you! The Griswold’s, overdue Christmas every year. This year Clark wants the holiday to be the best they have ever had. When the entire family including his brother and his family who are living out of a RV that’s older than me, come stay at the Griswold’s it is all down hill from there. What doesn’t happen to this family is the real question. Although the entire Christmas season was horrible for the Griswold’s at the end of the movie it is all worth it for them!

So, if you find yourself in a comical mood this holiday I suggest watching one of these Christmas Movies. They are all worth watching whether it’s alone, with your family or friends. This time of year is about looking back on the year, and giving back.

I hope you all have a great Holiday season!
