As Battle of the Classes (BOTC) approaches, the teams that the student body has elected is practicing hard to work as team, and of course, to perfect their choreographed dance. The sophomore team is definitely excited to be a part of this huge school event, and they are definitely not shy about it.

When asked what the best part about being on the BOTC team was, many of the team members were eager to respond. “The best part of being on the team is the bond that everyone builds.” Says Starr McKenna. “You might not be close friends with everyone in the team, but by the time BOTC rolls around everyone becomes family to you, it’s probably the closest bond you’ll build in the smallest amount of time.”

Nicolas Coluccio has a little bit of a different perspective, saying that his favorite part about it is “just being able to be a part of it, and luckily with all people I’m close with.”

So if they’re close with everyone or not, the team seems to ultimately become some of each other’s best friends.

Other teammate Alyssa Ali’s favorite part is “being on the team and just having fun all together.” She continued on to explain that since the team gets together only once a year, the time they get to spend together is especially fun.

Hannah Trainor enthusiastically says that the best part of being on the team is “that we get to have a lot of fun at practice…and we get to represent our grade.” She goes on to say, “The night of BOTC is also really fun!”

Yet another teammate, Mary Purcell, says that “the best part is being able to represent your grade and know that they trust you to do it!”

These sophomores definitely know what they’re most excited about, but do they know what they are contributing? (Uh, of course they do).

“I think I will be able to contribute (I guess) the heart because I’m very competitive and I hate losing.” Purcell foretold. How could the team survive without a bit of enthusiasm?

“Even though the boys may not think it, me and the girls contribute some pretty sick ideas in my opinion.” Ali laughs. The team has definitely been working hard on that dance, and they are excited to preform it for everyone! McKenna thinks she will also be able to contribute to the dance, saying “I’ll be able to contribute ideas for the dances, music, and props for the dance.”

Coluccio is also eager to help out with dance but also thinks he will be able to help out with “other things we do throughout BOTC.” Daniel Mirsky has the same kind of mindset: “I probably contribute my dance moves and my (somewhat) event skills.” Another boy on the team, Michael Colicchia he can “contribute my awesome dance moves.” These guys definitely want to show off their dance moves, but they also can’t wait to compete.

It is evident that the sophomores have been putting in a lot of work these past couple of weeks leading up to Battle of the Classes, and they all hope that their hard work will pay off soon enough!
